"iAM.AMR: An Integrated Assessment Model for Antimicrobial Resistance in a Canadian Context"
Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a complex and growing public health problem that threatens the health of people and animals around the world. Because of its complexity, it is very hard to predict the impact of actions and policies to combat AMR, and better tools are needed to integrate existing data and knowledge from different sources. The Integrated Assessment Model for Antimicrobial Resistance (iAM.AMR) was developed to pull together existing information about AMR – including information about the occurrence of resistance in different bacteria, information about antimicrobial use in animals and humans, and information about factors and behaviours that influence drug use and ultimately affect resistance. In this presentation we will describe the iAM.AMR platform and the model structure, provide examples of how it works and the data that are required as inputs, and highlight current gaps and limitations.
