Caroline Duchaine is a professor at Université Laval and amongst the rare international scientists with expertise in bioaerosol, their measurement and control. Her lab is one of the world’s most prolific (#1 Web of science “bioaerosols”). She obtained over 80 operating grants, published >450 manuscripts, abstracts, reports and chapters, is leading a strategic group on “Bioaerosols and Respiratory Viruses” within the Respiratory Health Network (FRQS) and takes part to several national and international committees. Her main field of expertise is the characterization of bioaerosols (viral, bacterial, fungal, archaeal), application, development of non-culture methods for bioaerosol characterization, control, fate and behaviour as well as human and animal exposure assessment in agricultural, domestic, industrial, and hospital settings. She studies antibiotic resistance genes in bioaerosols (agricultural, industrial, medical) and in nasopharyngeal flora and ARG carriage of workers.
