Steve Charette is a biochemist and a molecular and cellular biologist. He is working on respiratory and aquatic pathogens for 10 years (75 manuscripts, 300 presentations). His research program covers many aspects of microbiology including molecular mechanisms involved in bacterial virulence and antibiotic resistance, and ecological microbiology. He is a research scholar (FRQS) and NSERC, MAPAQ, funded to study antibiotic resistance in fish farms and to develop alternatives to antibiotics. He revealed Aeromonas salmonicida bacterium as a potential reservoir for a large number of AMR genes.
