André Marette

André Marette is a full professor in the Faculté de médecine, a cardiology researcher at Université Laval's Institut universitaire de cardiologie et de pneumologie de Québec, and Scientific Director at Université Laval's Institut sur la nutrition et les aliments fonctionnels (INAF).

Dr. André Marette's research focuses on the mechanisms of action of insulin and muscle contraction on glucose and lipid metabolism in muscle, adipose tissue and liver; the identification of mediators of insulin resistance in pro-inflammatory disorders such as obesity, diabetes and cardiovascular disease; and the discovery of biomolecules from plants and marine organisms for the prevention of diabetes and cardiovascular disease.

Dr André Marette will be in charge of part 3b, which focuses on the transfer of antibiotic resistance genes into the animal model. He supervises PhD student Ilaria Scapino.
